Community Services Programs offer an array of programs and services to the general community.

Volunteer and Leadership Program

This program promotes and facilitates leadership and volunteer opportunities among community member newcomers, youth, women and seniors. The program provides mentorship and hands on training to volunteers and newcomers to help them gain Canadian work experience, enhance leadership capacity, reduce social isolation, improve individual well-being and develop professional and social networks.The Career and Life Skills Workshop Series were help in 2015 and 2016, and included sessions on leadership, effective communication, work place culture, conflict resolution, mindfulness and project management. Snow Removal

The Neighbourhood Centre has been providing snow removal to eligible seniors and other residents since 2003. We screen, interview and train experienced and reliable shovellers for you, ensuring that you always have someone to call, and help maintain your safety!  A free registration is required. Service rates are $10 to $15 an hour; a one-hour minimum payment is required per assignment.

Income Tax Service

A FREE community income tax service is offered to those living on low income by a volunteers who are trained by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with the objective of helping eligible individuals who are not able to prepare their income tax and benefit returns by themselves. The clinic is offered during the tax season, based on a posted schedule. Eligibility is based on income thresholds. Read more here.

English Conversation Circles

In the summer of 2015, two English Conversation Circles were launched. One is designed for beginner to intermediate learners, held at 91 Barrington on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The second conversation circle is geared to high intermediate to advanced level learners, particularly Internationally Trained Professionals. This takes place every Monday evening at AccessPoint on Danforth (APOD, 3079 Danforth Avenue), from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Good Food Box

We offer Foodshare’s Good Food Box service. Nutritious, Ontario-grown fruits and vegetables are available for purchase at a lower cost than at a supermarket, and is a great way to add fresh, healthy food to the dinner table!

Six different types of boxes can be pre-ordered, priced between $13 and $34 per box. Delivery is every other Thursday.

Public Access Computers

Two computes are available for public access at our 91 Barrington site. The computers are open Monday to Friday from 11am-4pm. No appointment necessary, however to ensure that all community members are able to use the computers there is a time limit if people are waiting.
