Income Tax Volunteers
From March to May of each year, the Neighbourhood Centre, along with partner agencies, hold free Income Tax Clinics for community members. Detail oriented persons with some knowledge of finance are invited to volunteer. Training will be provided. Come learn about taxes, and help others with theirs!
Seniors’ Programs Volunteers – Multiple Roles
We have a very vibrant Seniors’ Programs, with many activities for volunteers to be engaged in. We are currently looking for support in our Arts and Crafts program, Seniors’ Fun Club, and Seniors’ Outreach.
Front Desk/Reception Volunteers
The Reception Volunteer sets a warm tone and creates a welcoming environment for all visitors and program participants of the Neighbourhood Centre and responds to their needs in a pleasant manner.
Are you a people friendly person with a good sense of humour, punctual, reliable and wishing to enhance your customer service and communication skill? We are looking for volunteers who can commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3 months who will greet walk-in visitors, answer phones, take messages, accept mail, provide information and referrals, perform photocopy and faxing duties, enter data, and other admin duties that arise from time to time. Training will be provided.
Volunteers will be assigned for a regular shift(s) mostly between 11am to 4 pm at least for 5-6 hours a week.
Volunteer IT Technicians will support the IT Consultant to implement and maintain technological equipment, databases, systems and processes at our two East York locations. This volunteer will work with staff to ensure that information technology solutions are working efficiently and are supporting the day-to-day operations at the Centre. The IT Technicians will volunteer between 4-8 hours per week, some of which can be from remote location and some in the office (on the subway line).
Do you have a passion for fundraising? Contribute your skills in this growing part of the Neighbourhood Centre’s work. We are seeking flexible, reliable, creative people with fundraising/development expertise and excellent communication and planning skills who can help us to create an effective fundraising strategy. Are you a seasoned fundraiser looking to give some time to a small community agency working in the Taylor-Massey community with newcomers and low-income families? This is an opportunity to help shape a new fundraising campaign as a Fundraising Strategist. We are seeking candidates who can dedicate between 15-20 hours per month during office hours (M-F 9-5).
Communications and Website Volunteer
The volunteer will support our agency’s print and web presence, with responsibility for designing and updating content and visual graphics for our website and print materials. We are looking for people with web design experience and proficiency with WordPress, the ability to work collaboratively and independently, attentive to details, and able to produce results in a timely way. Familiarity with MS Publisher and graphic design are an asset.
Holiday Hamper Volunteers – Multiple Roles
By December 2016, our goal is to provide hampers filled with food and gifts to 100 local families who cannot afford to do so on their own. This is a large yearly project that rely on the support of many donors and volunteers. In cooperation with the Family Resource Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, you will assist with the organization, sorting, wrapping, packing and delivery of 100 Holiday Hamper packages for our newcomer and low income families living in the Taylor Massey, Secord Lumsden, Crescent Town and Oakridge neighbourhoods.
